1. Will my insurance cover the shoes?
- If you are a qualifying diabetic, there is a high likelihood your insurance will cover 80% - 100% of the cost for one pair of shoes and inserts per year.
- It is YOUR responsibility to know your insurance coverage and benefits at the time of service.
2. Will you bill my insurance?
- Providing we are in your insurance network, we are more than happy to bill your insurance for you. If we are not contracted with your insurance, we will assist you in the billing process, but will expect payment up front.
3. How long does the process take?
- For extra –depth diabetic shoes and orthotics, delivery will be 2 weeks from the initial consultation and fitting.
- Custom molded shoes take approximately 4 weeks from the time of initial fitting and date of insurance authorization.
- Specialty custom made shoes can take 6-8 weeks depending upon the complexity of the project.
4. How much do the shoes cost?
- Custom footwear begins at $750.00. Prices vary with special orthopedic needs and modifications. Specialty footwear and personal designs can cost between $1200 - $1800.00. Once we know what the project entails, we can quote a more specific price. Please contact us for a quote.
5. Can I order custom footwear via mail?
- We always prefer a “face to feet” visit for the initial fitting and consultation; however, if you choose to order by mail, it is necessary for you to go to a Podiatrist, Pedorthist or Orthotist in your area to have a mold, measurements, and photos of your feet taken.
6. Do you guarantee your work?
- We give our 100% guarantee on the fit, quality and craftsmanship on all of our products. We cannot promise to solve foot problems overnight, especially for degenerative foot conditions.
- If your Crary shoes need to be adjusted or remade due to fit problems, we will do so at our expense for up to 6 months from delivery. However, if your feet change in size and/or shape during or after the shoe process due to medical conditions, changes will be made at a cost to you.
7. What is a Certified Pedorthist?
- “Pedorthics” is the design, manufacture, modification and fit of footwear, including foot orthosis, to alleviate foot problems caused by disease, overuse or injury.
- A Certified Pedorthist or C. Ped describes a person who is trained in Pedorthics, has passed a national examination in the field and has fulfilled other specific requirements. A C. Ped has the knowledge and experience to provide medically related specialty services affecting human ambulation and locomotion. Following the directions of the patient’s physician, a C. Ped strives to conduct his or her work in the most effective, dignified and efficient manner possible.
8. Do you make custom made safety shoes?
- Yes. We can add steel toes and instep guards to our custom made boots.
9. Can you make a custom shoe/boot to fit around an AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis)?
- Yes. We can make a custom shoe/boot to accommodate an existing AFO or we can build a brace internally.
10. Can you make a custom shoe/boot with no glue or dye?
- We have encountered many individuals with allergies to glues and/or dyes and we CAN help you. The process is a bit more expensive and takes a little more time, but we are always up to the task.
